wrinkling his nose in annoyance, andrew silently scolded himself as he, once again, read the same paragraph he had been reading for the past hour. doing an experiment in biology was one thing - studying the subject for a major exam was another.
andrew sighed and sank back into the over-stuffed leather armchair, rubbing his mahogany eyes wearily. studying was definitely not his favourite pastime. he would much rather be riding bree or watching someone else ride or even just being with his horse, or a horse. biology would always come second to horses, there was no denying that. at that point in time, andrew looked much older than his eighteen years.
picking up his pen once more, andrew hesitantly picked up his note book and began to write. his hand had plenty of cramps and his eyes were begining to droop but he still had four hours left to study. it was going to be an incredibly long afternoon.

rachel cooper ; DON'T WANNA GET A LIFE OF REGRET
She had come back from Starbucks a few minutes ago, having stumbled upon this new-found 'lounge' in Maybell Academy. Rachel Cooper had never spotted it before, but that wasn't a shock. She slipped in through the glass doors, the tiny silver bell upon the door jingling as she slammed it shut. It was a square, cozy room, with everything from coffee booths to computers in it's depths. There was a small crowd forming here and there, but otherwise, it wasn't very crowded. A perfect getaway for students between classes and weekends. A small smile etched on her face appeared once more, as her hazel pools shifted between the cushy sofa and coffee booth. Well, didn't she drink coffee merely minutes ago?
She played a bit with the aqua-colored bow laced onto her top, debating what to do as fellow peers rushed past her, either entering or exiting. It wasn't before she had decided to just sit down for a while, relax, was when she layed eyes on her twin brother. Oh, the kid. What he was doing? It seemed reading the same part in a book over and over again. Normally, she wouldn't interrupt anyone studying, but she knew dear Andrew wouldn't mind. Bouncing on her toes, Rachel skipped over, sinking into an armchair across from him.
"Helloooo," she greeted him, feeling rather energetic. Her eyes spotted the books that were randomly divided throughout the table, and she picked one up and tried to read it. Not even realizing it was upside-down. Silly girl. "Biology?" she questioned, skepticisim drowning out her words.

andrew looked up and found himself staring directly into eyes identical to his own. he gave his twin sister a cheeky grin as he watched her examine one of his many biology textbooks from an upside down angle. she could be incredibly cute sometimes, in a sisterly sort of way. he almost laughed at the way she questioned biology like she thought he was insane for taking the subject. he almost thought of himself as insane for taking the subject voluntarily. keen for a distraction of any sort, andrew put his notebook and pen down on the table and set his sister with a very serious expression.
'yes, biology,' he said, restraining himself from smiling. 'in my wonderful, charismatic teacher's opinion, which i rate quite highly, it is the most important of all the scientific branches. you would do well, rachel cooper, to follow me in the quest for knowledge and understanding of the wonderful world of biology.'
he couldn't help but crack a silly, childish grin at that.
'so, dearest sister, what brings you to my neck of the woods?' he said brightly, his textbooks, notes and study plans completely forgotten. now that he wasn't so focused on his study, he realised he was no longer alone in the lounge room - quite a crowd had gathered since he had first stepped into the room. andrew looked around curiously, only now noticing the computers, refreshments and nibblies on offer. unconsiously, he began to fiddle with the edge of his dark green polo shirt.
eventually, his eyes landed on his twin again, and he smiled faintly at how it felt to be looking at the female version of himself. it was a surreal feeling, having an almost-identical-save-for-gender twin sister. he had nominated himself as her personal bodygaurd. he was, after all, older by a minute or two. he couldn't help but feel protective of her. at that thought, andrew shot a well-trained eye around the room, feeling suspicious. he was always on the job when rachel was around.

Rachel tossed the book side with a sly grin, watching Andrew work with a rather curious expression. She was smart, yes, but she hated biology. It was her worst subject, and the one she could least understand. She swung her legs slightly, blinking her wide , hazel eyes as they stared at her brother. Blinking once or twice. "Huh?" she tilted her head, sensing sarcasm somewhere, hidden in Andrew's words. It was passed along the family, sarcasm was.
She sank deeper into the warmth of the cushy armchair, playing slightly with the off-white lace near the bottom of her shirt. It was a habit, when she was bored. "Oh, I dunno. I was bored," she replied, and couldn't help but slyly grin again. She had stumbled upon this boy by coincidence, but it felt as if she had been brought here to ask him something. Or something absurd her mind came up with when they were starving for something fresh. This town didn't have a lot of drama.
She felt tiny and insignificant next to Andrew, as they looked almost exactly alike. Give and take a few features. But it felt weird -- as if she wasn't intimidated by his height enough. He was at average height, but for her he was a giant. She chuckled slightly, watching him look around the room for some reason. Then came up with something to ask. "So hey, when you're doing with all this..stuff--"she shot an angry look at the piles of books before her"--then maybe we could do something?" she shrugged. It had been a while since they hung out.
She glanced out the window to her left, and noticed the nice weather. Maybe they could go to the stables or something. Not a cloud in the blue sky, which was lit up by a bright shining sun. Yes, the day definitely was riding-material. Snapping her attention back onto her twin brother, she smiled and swung her legs.
