Kristina laughed too easily. That was it; end of story. She laughed at almost anything that came out of someone’s mouth, unless it was meant to be without humor. She gave the tiniest giggle at Andrew. He was just too much like home for her; she felt safe, secure, not homesick, happy, drunk, relaxed, and everything seemed to fall into place. Any girl that Kristina talked to might say, Totally go for him! but Kristina was smart. She knew when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. Boys were a part of her and she knew if there was attraction between two people; except when it came down to herself a lot of times. She just couldn’t seem to grasp when her and a guy she really liked where definitely into each other. She knew when she was being flirted with and when she was being hit on, rudely a lot of times, but when it was teaser, she was hopeless. She felt an attraction to Andrew but she felt the whole friend vibe and she loved it. Friends was all she needed. No wild parties with alcohol, rooms, and guys hoping to get laid. She was sure that Andrew was the perfect companion for her senior year, the friend that she could drag around and then follow. The friend that would be with her hanging out and leave when he needed straight male time, and letting her go when it was girl time. An equal, someone who understood her, someone that she could be completely stupid around but they loved her anyway. Her gang was gone so now she needed someone, she wasn’t clingy but she felt a hole in her heart. Andrew seemed like the perfect fix. He solved it all and she enjoyed being with him, it was so natural that Kristina smiled a lot in their conversation.
“My dad always said that the cold was more appropriate. You can put on as many clothes as you want, but in the hot times, you can only take off so many. Of course he knew about my brother and my crazy times at the beach in the late of the night, but he was such a softy I guess he didn’t really mind too much. At least you are meeting me when it is cold, otherwise you might have walked right out that door…” Kristina about fainted. How could she just let all that out?! She just proclaimed herself a slut right in front of her problem solver. She had just committed suicide, made a death wish, whatever you please. She slapped her right hand to her pink lips and crinkled her nose.
The only thing she heard after her little speech was his offering of Jazz. She was so stunned by her last outbreak that she bit her lip to keep from shouting yes. She took a deep breath and faced him squarely. “I’d love to ride Jazz. I’m sure she’d be nice in dressage, even though I have no idea what she looks like or her body type.” Kristina shrugged off the unknown she would love to ride his mare. It was an honor, seeing as she had not ridden another horse for a couple of months besides Ven. She cleared her throat lightly and smiled. “Does she know a piaffe?” Kristina hoped she could keep him from analyzing her mistake of a conversation piece. She was still a little pink in the cheeks from her embarrassment of her wild times on her vacation trips. What was her problem? Was she so trusting that he wouldn’t judge her on the first meeting after she was so cool with him? She was going nuts apparently; she would have only told her gang, which had been slightly a mistake, seeing as they never let her live it down…A couple of them had been on vacation with her those years.

Andrew was glad Kristina was opening up. He was looking for friends and it made him feel a tiny bit better that he was making one. Not to mention she seemed a lot like him and this gave him a small comfort. He saw her as a girl that he could possibly watch hockey with unlike the flaky girlfriends that kept asking what off-sides was. He saw her as a girl that wouldn't get clingy yet he would have a third party view on any potential girl friends. Which in his case was often a good thing. Maybell was turning out to be alright. He figured if he was a friend to Kristina she would return the favor and be a friend to him.
He listened to Kristina talk about her father before chokeing on a sip of coffee. Coughing a bit he laughed, Woah, now that took me by surprise. Andrew knew of other boys that would have been alienated or worse disgusted by the recent confession. But frankly, Andrew didn't care. Why should he? This was the boy who went out, got drunk, got tricked into taking his clothing off by his oldest brother, and then was locked outside. What made it worse was when Sandi his step mother needed to rescue him. Nice one. he nodded laughing. But hey, just for future reference, can you tell me when you decide to do this. He teased. I wouldn't want to be overdressed. He winked. Andrew wasn't exactly hitting on her, it was more of a I'm your friend and I love you, that's why I'm teasing you like this. action.
Andrew watched her think for a moment about riding Jazz, when he heard her question he laughed quietly again. Oh, sorry I forgot to tell you. Jazz is a holsteiner x throughbred cross. So she's built like a warmblood and goes like a thoroughbred. She's a dapple grey, real sweetheart on the ground and pretty good with flatwork. She gets a little excited once she starts jumping. He paused thinking for a moment, She probably has a piaffe somewhere in her training back in Belgium, so you could try and unlock it in her noggin. She'll probably appricate someone who knows what they are doing with the higher end dressage. He smiled.
He hadn't really overlooked Kristina's little confession. But it wasn't like he was trying to find things wrong with her, instead he found it a cute little quirk. Some people liked doing crossword puzzles and Kristina liked taking her clothes off. To each his own, his father always said. Compared to Kristina's father, Anthony Harrision was a whole different ball game. He ran his family, his polo team, and his farm with a military like additude. Everything was clean and shined, there was always a fresh coat of paint and for a while he had his boys wear a uniform consisting of a polo shirt and clean jeans when they worked at the farm. But Anthony Harrison had a softer side, and a side that liked to pull pranks. He was always the first to remind you it was April first, and always up for a gallop on a good horse.

Kristina had just opened up and it was one of her mistakes, as usual. She covered her face and chuckled. “I am so sorry…You really shouldn’t have heard that…I…” She shook her head and couldn’t speak, she feared further embarrassment…She just sounded like some stripper, or slut! She couldn’t even cope with that as her new rep…UGH! Kristina’s comfort zone had just shifted and she felt like she had just ruined a nice being but she could be wrong, maybe he wouldn’t care she was…outgoing. Suddenly she regretted some of her fun times with the boys and nice parties in the summer at smokin’ hot guys’ houses. But she shouldn’t feel this way, if this guy was to be her friend he would shrug it off and say something like, we’re all crazy or something to make her feel less of an idiot and slut…Bleh…she just couldn’t handle the thought of someone calling her that, it wasn’t her, and she knew it.
His response was a amazing to Kristina, she was intrigued that he even teased her about it, and not harshly. She uncovered her face and gave a dry laugh. “Trust me, you’ll never be overdressed… Confessions like that don’t come spilling out… Sorry.” But she wasn’t sorry, she had just shown the guy she trusted him not to hurt Kristina, and that was big. Even as outgoing as she was, she rarely spilled her confessions of her dirty times. She gave a lopsided smile; it was too bad she hadn’t known him before; otherwise he would have been with her all those crazy times. Kristina twitched her nose, she wondered if he had confessions similar to hers. If he did, he’d be smart not to tell her the first day they met, but he had proved trustworthy to her so far.
“Sounds like a beaut! I bet she’s smooth in dressage. Have you ever done saddle seat?” Kristina had learned in her younger years how to ride saddle seat, American Saddlebreds were amazing, but she was always for her dressage and jumping. She smiled and was glad to return back to the horse, she was anxious to see the mare in living flesh. All she had was her imagination and good sense of visualization but she knew it was always better in flesh. She smiled; built as a warmblood, goes like a thoroughbred. A genius crossing for a nice sport horse; she nodded her approval and like silently.
She began to think of her dad, how much she missed him and how much she needed his ways to comfort her here. But she was being slowly comforted, she had Ven, Andrew now, and soon maybe a roomie she got along with. She smiled at the sweet remembrance of the past years. Her brother was always one for tricks, and he tagged along with her a lot, with gave him the advantage of older girls who messed with him because he was cute. Kristina remembered his first time at the beach parties; so funny, he was as he gathered courage to ask a girl to dance, only having some guys come up and ask him if he was Kristina’s sister. Upon the approval, girls gathered around him to see how he was like his sister. She smirked to think of what she taught him; be a tease, make them chase you, usually that’s for girls but the beach girls like to have to catch the guy’s attention, so don’t seem anxious or too ready for them. Also, do not, do not, let them ask you to go skinny dipping, sort of, hint at it. She was such a bad sister, not to him, but parental wise… She had taught him some tricks, that he would have had to learn when he was like twenty, and she wanted her brother to be cool and wanted around, like herself. Yes, she credited herself as a good sister.

Andrew putting an arm around Kristina gently he gave her a little squeeze. He chuckled slightly under his breath and said, Don't worry, we all do crazy things once in a while. He said this in a slight whisper into her ear as if it was supposed to be something that only she was supposed to hear. He laughed again continuing, I've done some pretty....interesting..stuff too. Everyone does something crazy in their lifetime. He laughed again giving her another friendly squeeze. Andrew was more than a head taller than the alburn headed girl sitting next to him and he playfully layed his chin ontop of her head for a moment.
He gave her probably the fakest look of dissapointment. And here I thought I finally found a wild party girl, in this dry little town. He smiled and laughed again. Andrew did have some deep dark secrets. Some very embarrassing moments. Ones that put Kristina's to shame. But that was part of his charm. He'd let them slip, but only in a little bit. He trusted her but he fugured it was more fun this way. Any way, why tell everything at the first meeting when you have the whole school year to let the girl in on your little secrets? Hey I got stuck outside, naked and drunk, and my step mom had to 'rescue' me. It was my brother's little prank. They wanted to leave me out there all night and have me sleep out there buck naked, but my drunken shouting woke Sandi up. He laughed. Not his most embarrassing moment, but still pretty bad. What made it worse was Sandi had just married my dad, so we always say it was a "welcome to the family" initiation.
Yeah, she's the making of some very good breeding. She's smooth now. When she first came over to the US, she hurt herself on the ride over, so we had to spend a lot of time smoothing out her right lead. It's still a little jittery, but you'll be fine. Maybe you could even fix it more. He smiled. No I've never tried saddle seat. I started out as a polo pony kid. He laughed thinking back to those cool winter mornings when his whole family would go out to the polo field and his family would square off. Mark, Jack, and Andrew against Sasha and Anthony. His mother, feeling bad that he was the littlest and least experienced, would often pass the ball "accidentaly" to her youngest little brown haired boy. Andrew had lost interest in Polo when his mother died. It had been "their" sport. Sasha had spent many many a morning teaching the little brown haired boy how to hit the ball. After his mother's death Andrew had played on a few leagues but had switched to the show circuit soon after. It was something he could do himself, and that didn't remind him of his mother.
He was the youngest in the family. The little scrawny kid that hung around the two older brothers. He used to do anything they asked of him. Including their share of barn chores. But over the years Andrew had grown up, and nicely so, as many of the girls at the barn remarked. He was the tallest of the three brothers but he still was lean. Not skinny exactly, but very thin. He was only 172 pounds stretched over a six foot - two inch frame. Now him and his brothers were very close, doing everything from picking up girls to barn chores and everything in between.

Kristina laughed nervously; not many boys reacted this way, either they slink off or they want to know if she will explore their pants. “You scare me, Andrew Harrison. Not many boys react like this, and not many I know are like you, a few but rare.” She looked at him as he squeezed her friendly like. He was a big help to her situation of missing home. She felt like she belonged here officially; she found her spot, next to Andrew in the lounge. She was glad to have stumbled on him, thankfully not fully in his arms. As much as she found him attractive and how she had a little crush, she felt family love sinking in, but she wouldn’t give up her attraction too easily, but let it slide by slowly.
Kristina let out a full on humored laugh, she had some embarrassing moments but his topped her ones that she would have said aloud. “Well…oh my…” She couldn’t stop laughing and she clapped. “You win this round, I have some embarrassing ones but not that I would let go of just yet.” She nodded in defeat; he was such a fun guy to be around she couldn’t wait for a senior party or any wild party, if Andrew was going Kristina knew she’d have fun; as long as she didn’t do something stupid and end up pregnant she was happy. She couldn’t believe how they treated Andrew with his prank, just another joke and humility to have on your shoulders but being loose and free with it made Andrew even better than Kristina thought.
Kristina nodded, understanding everything now; she pursed her lips in thought. “I may be able to help but it won’t be much, any idea why it’s jittery?” Kristina was an expert but she knew about horse injuries and reactions with recovery. She smiled at the polo life; she had never done polo but it looked fun. Having ridden a polo pony, though, she wasn’t an enthusiast. “I’ve ridden a polo pony, when the whistle blew he took off running to the line and I couldn’t stop him for my life, the only time I’ve ever been afraid of a horse.” She gave a side smile in remembrance, that day hadn’t been good at all so it didn’t matter how bad the ride had been.
“So, excited about the school year?” It was a strained question as she was no nerd and absolutely loathed having school come and only looked forward because of the shows. She scrunched her nose at the thought of her classes; she wasn’t taking hard classes, they were rather enjoyable but she just hated work. She also drifted to her apartment due date; she only had so much money and was about to die if she didn’t find a roommate soon. “Do you have a roommate, well, are you living in a dorm?”

Andrew laughed his voice deep. I have my moments. and he did have his moments when he was your everyday average hormone driven teenage male. And currently this side of Andrew was making inner conflicts bubble underneath the surface. Andrew did find Kristina attractive with her alburn hair, but at the same time their relationship currently screamed 'best friend / partiers' and Andrew was in no position to turn down friends. Currently his dorm mates hadn't been around enough to really meet Andrew and Kristina was one of the first people that he had met and been able to talk to for a while.
Told you. And that's one of the more, how should I say, suited for polite company. He gave a cheeky grin. Andrew's story purely reflected thefact that he grew up in a family with two older brothers who loved to party. Hey, get in touch with my brothers and they can give you the real look into some of the stupid and crazy stuff I've done. But I warn you, it isn't pretty. He laughed again. Mark, Jack , and Andrew were very close. Andrew looked up to them as a young boy and they had helped him along his first few years of adolecence when his father was grieving. Mark had given him his first drink and Jack had persuaded him to hook-up with the neighbor's teenage niece.
He looked serious for a moment, concentrating on her question. Well, when she came over she had a bit opf a swollen front right leg. We weren't too worried but when it didn't go down we sent her over to the vet and he said she had popped her splint. She was put on stall rest and once it healed was put her back in work slowly. But her right lead's always been difficult since she was little so it's a little less balanced but now she's better than before. He smiled softly thinking of back home once again. Well you'll just have to get on another polo pony, one that isn't so green. He chuckled before continuing...I felt the same way when I got on my first regular working show hunter, but it was the opposite 'this horse is going too slow, how's it going to clear that 4 foot oxer?!' Needless to say I was freaked out.
Hmmm, school. Not so much. Andrew had never really been one to look forward to school. Not like he had ever really had to go to school. All the horse shows had made it possible for him to complete classes online. That was also a reason to send him to a riding academy. HE would get a full year of classes, something colleges might find appealing, and get to ride. A perfect trade-off in his father's mind. His mother and father had vast differences in opinions of his life after high-school. Anthony Harrison expected his son to go to college and get a degree, something he himself had never been able to accomplish. He realized that his son was an amazing rider but he didn't want Andrew to be limited in his oppertunities. Sandi however realized Andrew's potential as a horse trainer. Here was a young man that had the physical strength to force submission in horses but the mental strength to approach things in a positive and calm manner. People who saw him train often remarked he was "an iron hand in a velvet glove". Ultimatly it was up to Andrew but the decision was weighing on his psych heavily. Returning to the conversation he smiled at Kristina. Dorm. Uh, my roomates are Andrew Cooper and Tyler Barker. you?

[ Just a tad rusty ]
Kristina chuckled and shook her head...he was truly amazing and she couldnt believe he connected with her better than other friends and so fast. Her mind was a blur with racing thoughts of what could be and what was for now. Hormonal boys were just as bad as girls if not better... She smirked and shook her head. "Well we all do, right?" She smiled her pearly white grin, the perfectly straight teeth gleaming in the light. His looks werent the only thing she found making her jocular about the year already; his personality was positively the best. A shiver raced down her spine as she realized she had those chills that led to a good thing. She tried to hush down the rosy blush that was trying to sneak up on her.
"Well i guess that to make it extremely even weneed to make some moments ourselves, maybe a party will spring up sometime!" Kristina was never one to turn down a party, if it was boring she'd make it interesting. Her smile turned into a challenging look. Would he dare join her? She was very hyper now in hoping for a clubbin friend, although with her jealous ways seeing another girl dancing with him could kill her. She crinkled her nose quickley at the thought, she was beginning to let her attraction towards him take over but one little part of her screamed that friends was the first step...possibly the only one.
She took in the explanation quietly, surprisingly horses were the last thing on her mind right now, she preferred comparing and sharing moments with her new best friend. "Well, I may know a few tricks but i doubt any would work because it was an injury and it sounds pretty stressing too..." she shrugged helplessly, she was curious about the mare but she knew it was too early to ride her, or rather too late.
Kristina laughed and nodded, she disliked school intensely. "I'm with you, I always have to do well in school though, my parents are sooo strict!" Her smile was remorseful and she resented a few things her parents put in a harsh line...Although it was all for the better so it did bother her that much. She listened to the guy names but didnt recognize any...well she was still new and without a dorm so she was okay. "I actually live in a dorma nd am looking for a roommate...unfortunately i really havent met any girls without a dorm or roommate." She shrugged and grinned, how could she be mad, she really wasnt throwing herself out there.

Andrew laughed slowly, and gave her another smile. Those quiet cheeky smiles that proclaimed to the world that he was indeed a male to be reckoned with. He ran a hand through his hair making it stand up slightly on end, before speaking again. True, very true. Kristina was the kind of girl that he could see himself with eventually, but then there was Lola, the cute and quirky hawiian girl that had caught his attention earlier that morning. One thing was for sure, thoughts of college were not the only things going on in his mind. Not at all.
I like that plan. He smiled again before laughing slightly. He had definatly been a partier back home. What else was there to do? When the horses were fed, you headed off the the nearest party until it was time to go ride again. Andrew thrived on that fast paced lifestyle. Maybe that was why his father had sent him away. Making sure he got one full year of school, since he couldn't go to college and major in partying and girls. That just wouldn't do, would it? Well, we'll just have to find a party in this dry little northern town.
Her splint's fine now. She just wears some support boots if I do a lot of hard work on her. He was extremely careful about the mare. She was always booted up and her legs were wrapped after hard jumping workouts. This was his first personal horse. He had never had a horse that he was fully in charge of until she came over. Riding other peoples' horses was fun. However, it wasn't the same as having your own. There was just something about having his own, one that totally depended on him.
He offered a weak smile, Yeah, I spent so much of my time on the road, my parents couldn't really crack down on the whole 'studying' thing. Dad took me out of school to ride in the polo matches when a team-mate was hurt, Sandi had me traveling to ride horses for her clients, and they both felt that the farm came first -- so if help didn't arrive, i'd stay home and work that day, with my brothers. I usually took courses over the internet and brought a lot of work home. But they don't even really know what I'm doing after school. Dad wants me to go to college, but Sandi wants me to ride straight out of school. So yeah, school isn't exactly my top priority. Andrew wouldn't admit it or say it out loud but he sometimes wished he had that normal childhood. He wanted to be forced to study, and to go to school. But instead he completed assignments in the dead of night, after a long week showing, or a long day working at the barn. Sure he was an amazing rider, but it had come at a price.
Yeah, my dorms pretty cool. Andrew was looking forward to really getting to know his roommates, seeing as it would be his first full year in school.
